Do sinus washes help get rid of post nasal drip?

May 30th, 2010 by admin

A friend of mine purchased one for me since I have a sinus infection. I was wondering if it could help with post nasal drip. I can’t seem to cough it up myself and taking a decongestant is not an option.

A sinus wash will flush out junk from your nose and sinus cavities. This includes snot, germs, blood or what ever you have in there. Your body will try to wash it out by creating secretions. It’s those secretions that drip down the back of your throat.

So if you wash out all the junk and your body isn’t trying to wash it out with secretions, then you shouldn’t have post nasal drip. Now that wont cure all PND but can help.

Good luck

My beloved friend who was a nurse always told people to do that when they had a sinus infection. She said to lie down on a table on your back and put your head just over the end of the table. Then she said to put water up your nose. Someone did it to his kids and they always yelled at her for telling their dad to do it! But she claimed it worked great.
